Tox and Shingeki no Kyojin
I have just caught up to date with the manga of Shingeki no Kyojin, because I couldn’t patiently wait for the anime when I so urgently wanted to go into the tags unspoiled. And even though the early manga art work is quite poor, the story, pacing, characters and thought put behind it all makes up for it. This is a brilliant series.
As you might have noticed by the last few posts on my tumblr, I have some clear preferences for pairings and characters. So let me elaborate on those.
Overall without question or doubt I love Ymir/Christa the most. They understand each other better than anyone else, and it is so beautiful. Everyone looks at them and sees a crude selfish girl, and wonders why the hell Christa the “angel” would be with her. But then you find out the truth about their relationship, that Ymir is not as selfish as she seems - at least not around Christa - and similarly Christa isn’t quite the martyr she likes to present herself as. It’s a really beautiful relationship, and it has so much potential. I adore this ship.
I also really like Reiner/Armin since the scene where Reiner grabs Armin’s bag, and it doesn’t hurt that they had a few nice moments in the forest, and later as well, together. But with the latest information on Reiner (whom I still love) I think that I am shipping these guys less.
I love Mikasa/Sasha, but there hasn’t been enough scenes with them together for a while now, so I am not shipping them as hard as some other ships.
Eren/Armin is great, plain and simple, and I - with shipping goggles equipped - strongly believe that Eren is in love with Armin. We shall see what happens there. Every other ship I am pretty much “okay” with, I have no dislikes in that department.
Now character wise, my two faves are Hanji and Armin. Something about intelligent characters just draws me in, and it doesn’t hurt that Hanji is a lunatic and badass at the same time, and that Armin is adorable. I also really love Annie, Ymir and Sasha, and I always cheer when Mikasa gets to save the day. And of course Reiner, he’s great.
You should know that I just moved Shingeki no Kyojin to the list of my primary fandoms, instead of secondary, so you can expect much more of this series on my tumblr. Be prepared.
And if you have yet to give this manga or the anime (only 7 episodes long so far) a chance, then do it now! You won’t regret it.

“Come try,” said Asha, “and hereafter we can call you the Red Eunuch.” A throwing axe was in her hand. She tossed it in the air and caught it deftly. “Here is my husband, Nuncle. Any man who wants me should take it up with him.”
